The "2025 National March 8th Red-Banner Holder" list has been announced, and multiple faculty members and students from the Open University of China (OUC) are among the honourees. These women have dedicated themselves to their work with unwavering commitment, shouldering responsibilities with quiet strength and reflecting their original aspirations through their prime years. They are trailblazers in their respective fields, and boundary-breakers in life. Starting today, let's get to know these exceptional OUC women, listen to their inspiring stories, and witness the radiance they bring.

WEN Juan, a member of the Communist Party of China, graduated from the 2022 Autumn Administration Management programme at Chongqing Branch of the Open University of China. She is currently employed at Chongqing Construction Industry Co., Ltd. In 2026, she was honoured with the title of "2025 National March 8th Red-Banner Holder." Her previous accolades include "National Outstanding Migrant Worker," "National Youth Post Expert," "National Role Model of Women’s Meritorious Service," and the "National May 1st Labour Medal."

In 2010, WEN began her career as a welding worker. In daily production and work, she strives for perfection and demonstrates solid dedication. Through years of steadfast learning and the relentless pursuit of technical mastery, she has mastered a range of welding techniques, including submerged arc welding, CO₂ gas shielded welding, and manual metal arc welding. By tackling technical challenges to complete welds with high requirements and complex structures, she successfully transformed from a novice in steel structure welding into a comprehensively skilled welding expert. As a role model, WEN ensures zero defects in every procedure and product that she works on.

In recent years, WEN has successively undertaken and completed specialised welding work for major projects such as the Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank, the Chongqing Dazu Stadium, and the Chongqing Guotai Art Centre. Among these, the Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank project was awarded the "China Construction Engineering Luban Prize," while the Chongqing Dazu Stadium and Chongqing Guotai Art Centre projects received the "China Construction Engineering Steel Structure Gold Award."

WEN pioneered a double-wire, double-arc automatic gantry welding process for H-beam combined full-penetration joints, boosting welding speed threefold and cutting production costs by over 2 million yuan. She has also participated in 23 innovation projects and secured 9 national utility model patents.

Looking ahead, WEN’s eyes shine with determination. She pledges to stay rooted on the welding front, wielding her torch like a brush and steel like canvas, as she pushes the boundaries of technological innovation. She aims to inspire more women to break new ground and excel in intelligent manufacturing and high-end construction.
