SHI Wenmei, Han ethnicity, is a graduate majoring in Township Enterprise Management at Zhejiang Open University and a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC). She currently serves as the Director of the R&D Centre at Huzhou Taiping Micro-Special Motors Co., Ltd. SHI was ever awarded "Good Samaritans of China" in 2013, National Model of Professional Ethics for Workers in 2013, National May Day Labour Medal in 2016, National March 8th Red Banner Holder in 2018, and National Model Worker in 2020.

Starting as a coil insertion worker in the electrical workshop, SHI rose through the ranks to become a technician, senior engineer, and R&D centre director. Her career journey has shown her firsthand that government encouragement and enterprise support constitute fertile soil for employee growth and development. She believes that advancing skill-driven enterprise development in both breadth and depth, fortifying the talent foundation with highly skilled workers, and enhancing enterprise efficiency through talent vitality are essential for achieving a win-win situation for both enterprises and skilled personnel.
"This is a promising era where 'everyone can achieve success and everyone can fulfil their potential.' No matter what position you hold, as long as you make unremitting efforts, you can become a benchmark in your industry!" This is how SHI sums up her career and her experience as an NPC deputy, as well as the message she hopes to convey to young students and technical personnel.
As an NPC deputy who rose from the frontline, SHI has remained grounded in her primary duties while continuously going deep into frontline communities. She actively participates in various research activities, visiting platform enterprises, rider stations, and areas where new employment groups gather. She has extensively listened to the genuine demands of ride-hailing drivers, food delivery riders, couriers, and other groups, repeatedly refining and improving her proposals。
During this year's Two Sessions, SHI put forward suggestions on strengthening the protection of rights and interests for workers in new employment forms. "Protecting the rights and interests of these workers is the foundational work for promoting the healthy development of the platform economy and digital economy," SHI said. As an NPC deputy, she will continue integrating her duty performance into daily research, bringing real problems from the frontline to the conference hall and taking practical and feasible suggestions back to local communities. She will strive to give workers in new employment forms greater security and a stronger sense of gain.
