ZHU Wenmei, a student of the 2024 Social Work undergraduate programme at the Hefei Learning Centre of the School for the Disabled of the Open University of China (OUC), took the win in the women's F40 shot put event of 2025 National Para Athletics Championships held in Bengbu City, Anhui Province, which is the qualifying tournament of Tokyo Deaflympics.

As a premier national competition, this championship attracted 680 elite para-athletes from 32 provincial-level units across China, competing in 321 events. ZHU Wenmei demonstrated exceptional skills and determination, achieving a winning throw of 7.31 metres.
