Beijing, 8 June 2025 — Two students from the Open University of China’s (OUC) Experimental College achieved top honours at the final round of the 13th Beijing Calligraphy Competition for College Students. LI Congzhong, majored in Calligraphy and enrolled in the autumn of 2024, was awarded the Special Prize in the Brush Calligraphy category.
WANG Chunpeng, majored in Calligraphy and enrolled in the spring of 2024, secured the First Prize in the Hard-Pen Calligraphy category. These outstanding results not only highlight the exceptional calligraphy skills of OUC students but also reflect the high-quality teaching outcomes of the university's Calligraphy programme.
Organised by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, this competition aims to showcase the cultural charm of the Great Wall, celebrate the united spirit of the Chinese nation, and pay tribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
During the preliminary round, a total of 683 outstanding works were submitted by 54 colleges and universities in Beijing. After rigorous evaluation by the competition’s expert review committee, 117 contestants advanced to the finals.
Under the meticulous guidance of their instructors, WANG Shaofan and YU Qingyao, the students from the Experimental College prepared thoroughly for the competition. Their hard work and dedication were awarded at the final.
