In order to recognise outstanding women individuals, set examples for the others, and inspire women to cultivate self-respect, confidence, independence, and self-reliance, as well as to encourage them to forge ahead on a new journey and contribute to the new era by actively participating in the modernization of China, the All-China Women's Federation recently held a commemorative event for International Women's Day (March 8th) and an Awards Ceremony in Beijing.

A total of 15 students or graduates from the Open University of China (OUC) system were awarded the “National March 8th Red-Banner Holders”. Let us listen to the inspiring stories behind them.

LIN Yongsheng, a Law student at Haibei Open University, Qinghai Branch, currently serves as the Director of the Urban Appearance Inspection Office at the Municipal Facilities Operation Service Centre in Gangcha County, Haibei Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
Since she began to work, no matter which position she took, LIN has always been the person the others can rely on. The urban management scope in Gangcha County is vast and challenging, compounded by a shortage of staff, numerous tasks, and heavy responsibilities. It is not an easy job to do the property management work well under such circumstances. However, LIN spares no effort in brainstorming ideas, offering solutions, conducting frequent visits, and ensuring implementation. She could always find solutions for the problems and difficulties.
