At the beginning of 2024, the Open University of China (OUC) organised a special workshop on enrolment in Changchun City, Jilin Province.

The event was attended by Li Song, a member of the OUC Party Committee and vice president. Over twenty participants were present at the workshop, including key leaders responsible for enrolment at the Changchun Open University and its operating system, as well as OUC personnel in charge of academic affairs. Gu Xiaohua, director of the OUC Academic Affairs Department, presided over the proceedings.

The attending representatives reviewed their respective enrolment efforts from 2023 and engaged in discussions about the current challenges and situations faced in enrolment work.

Li Song concluded his speech by emphasising the importance of the robust discussions held, highlighting how they reflect the in-depth study and thought invested in open education enrolment. He pointed out that these discussions lay a solid foundation for addressing enrolment challenges. Li Song stressed the need to stay current, acknowledging that different eras present unique issues. The central question, he noted, is determining how open education can play a more significant role in building a society and country of learning.

In his final remarks, Li Song emphasised that enrolment strategies should be tailored to the specific conditions of various locations. He assured that the Academic Affairs Department at the OUC headquarters will continue to foster deep communication with branches and schools. This, he believes, is crucial for ensuring the success of enrolment efforts in a scientific and reasonable manner.
