From 3rd to 6th December 2023, Tianjin University hosted the final round of the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (CICSIC) 2023.

Wang Qiming, secretary of Party Committee and president of the Open University of China (OUC), along with Liu Xuanxuan, deputy secretary of Party Committee of the OUC, attended the event to support the participating students.

In the "Youth's Journey for Building the Red Dream" category, three projects from the OUC system advanced to the national finals. Additionally, eleven projects in the vocational education category achieved the same feat. Following a round of rigorous competition, the participants earned three gold prizes in the "Youth's Journey for Building the Red Dream" category and an impressive tally of six gold and five silver prizes in the vocational education category.

The CICSIC 2023, organised by the Ministry of Education along with eleven other departments in collaboration with the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, is being hosted by Tianjin University. This year, the event has seen an overwhelming response with a total of 4.21 million projects submitted by 5,296 schools from 151 countries and regions globally, drawing in 17.09 million registered participants. Within the OUC system alone, there were 17,284 projects with 53,266 individual participants. Out of these submissions, 300 projects qualified for the provincial competition, earning 62 gold, 61 silver, and 62 bronze awards. Forty-five of these projects progressed to the national competition, including twelve in the "Youth's Journey for Building the Red Dream" category and thirty-three in the vocational education track. Impressively, fourteen projects have made it to the finals.
