Editor's Notes: The Open University of China (OUC) has initiated a programme to nurture candidates for the inaugural session of "Outstanding Young Teachers," resulting in 104 teachers being bestowed with the esteemed title of "OUC Outstanding Young Teachers."

By sharing the stories of some of these young teachers and highlighting their experiences of learning and personal growth, our aim is to showcase the dedication and enthusiasm of all OUC teachers who are devoted to contributing to the establishment of a lifelong learning society for all.

Piao Minzhe, a member of the Korean ethnic group, holds a master's degree in Optical Science from the Physics Department at Yanbian University. Currently, Piao serves as a teacher and official in the Department of Publicity and Ideological and Political Education at Changchun Open University. Piao has authored two papers published in SCI journals and one paper recognized by the Beijing University library as a core journal publication. Among the numerous honorary titles bestowed upon him, Piao has received recognition as an "Excellent Party Affairs Worker" from the education system in Changchun, an "Excellent Party Member" from Changchun Open University, and has been recognized as an "Advanced Individual" during the week for the lifelong learning for all initiative in Jilin Province.

Upon the recommendation of the university and after several rounds of elections, I was honored to be selected as a candidate for the "Outstanding Young Teachers" programme at the Open University of China (OUC). This marked the beginning of a remarkable three-year learning journey, which has undoubtedly been the most memorable training experience throughout my career in the education field. Starting from the autumn term in 2021, as per the university's arrangements, I assumed the role of managing the teaching activities for the course on ideological and political education. Recognizing this course as crucial in fulfilling the fundamental task of "cultivating morally ethical talents," I am acutely aware of the immense responsibility entrusted to me.

By studying the guiding documents crafted by the Minister of Education and educational authorities at the municipal and provincial levels, and considering the specific circumstances at the university, I have devised scientific and efficient management approaches.

Firstly, a comprehensive implementation plan has been devised to enhance and elevate the management standards of the teaching team responsible for the theoretic courses on ideological and political education. This plan focuses on areas such as the study of political theories, effective management of the teaching faculty, and the advancement of their teaching and research capabilities.

Secondly, we have diligently adhered to the guidelines set forth by the Academic Affairs and Scientific Research Departments, ensuring that all requirements are met. We have made meticulous arrangements for the courses on ideological and political education, consistently engaging in timely and regular communication and supervision. These measures have guaranteed the successful completion of both online and offline teaching tasks, fulfilling the desired standards of quality and quantity.

Thirdly, we have arranged for the faculty members responsible for the courses on ideological and political education to participate in workshops designed for key teachers within the OUC system. This initiative aims to elevate their teaching and research capabilities, fostering continuous improvement in their professional development.

Fourthly, we have established a Teaching and Research Office to cultivate a supportive learning environment, facilitate practical teaching activities, and foster a campus atmosphere of integrity. This initiative aims to create an optimal setting for both students and faculty, promoting a culture of academic excellence and ethical conduct.

Fifthly, we have planned, organized, and implemented educational activities aimed at enhancing the professional ethics of teachers. These initiatives are designed to facilitate continuous improvement in teachers' ethical standards.

The three-year training has provided me with new ideas, knowledge, skills, and reflections, all of which I have successfully applied to my teaching practice.

Firstly, I have dedicated efforts towards deepening my professional learning. Secondly, I have also focused on broadening my professional knowledge and skills.

Thirdly, it is essential to prioritize innovation in professional learning. Teachers in the new era must stay attuned to the evolving times, fostering innovation and keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments. It is crucial to capture the pulse of the times and embrace a forward-thinking mindset.

During the past three years, I actively participated in various professional development opportunities provided by OUC, including workshops, online learning projects, and cross-field special training designed for the first group of candidates for outstanding young teachers. Concurrently, I achieved notable scholarly accomplishments, publishing three papers, including one in a core journal selected by Beijing University library, as well as two provincial-level papers. Additionally, I contributed to the compilation of a textbook. Moreover, I achieved remarkable success in the "Micro-class Contests for Digital Learning Harbor Cup" at the university, securing one first prize, one second prize, and one excellent prize.

Three years have passed by swiftly, and the memories of learning and training alongside my colleagues feel as vivid as if they happened yesterday. Reflecting on the past, I am grateful for the challenges and trials I have faced, as they have been instrumental in my personal growth and transformative journey.
