Yang Yang graduated from the College of Literature of Northeast Normal University, first with a Bachelor and then a Master's degree, and received a doctorate in literature in 2013. In 2015, he started work at the Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC) as a course coordinator, supervising the teaching and teaching management of several majors.

At the same time he has served as head of scientific research in the Experimental School and secretary of the Literature, History, Philosophy and Arts Sub-committee of the OUC Academic Committee.

In his work, Yang Yang insists on learning, keeping a positive attitude, and making ideological and moral progress. He has published many papers in academic journals including Social Sciences Front, Cultural Heritage and Northern Forum. His monograph Dance Opera - Errenzhuan and Cultural Tradition in Northeast China was published by the China Social Sciences Press, and he has co-authored four books, including New Perspectives on Famous Articles Selected by Chinese Textbooks for Secondary Schools in China, published by Peking University Press. This is a textbook in the “12th Five-Year Plan” for higher education and the “21st-century Teacher-education” series. The monograph was named the top social-sciences research achievement of Jilin Province in 2014, and a paper he wrote for the 6th Advanced Forum on "Culture and Education" in national vocational colleges gained a second prize. He has also participated in many national and provincial projects as a researcher.

While teaching in the Advertising and Chinese majors, Yang Yang was also responsible for compiling and publishing documents such as "Job Responsibilities of Teachers in the Teaching Centre of the Experimental School" and "Management of Elective Construction in the Experimental School". Since being hired in 2015, he has taken up teaching of the OUC Guidelines, and in 2017 became more active in the construction of Experimental College electives, including construction of network resources related to Basic Writing and Applied Writing, formulation of teaching documents, and construction of the formative-assessment examination-question bank. As cooperative-teaching pilot courses of the Experimental School, these two courses put in place network-based live teaching, focusing on interaction of teachers and students in distance teaching. The results have been promising, and the courses praised by students. Meanwhile, as a key member of the teaching team of the online core course Principles of Aesthetics, he not only participated in teaching it but also in constructing the curriculum resources and teaching of Introduction to Aesthetics in the Experimental School. He is down-to-earth and diligent, uncomplaining, and studious when it comes to teaching methods and ideas. He not only uses distance teaching to enhance classroom teaching, but also strives to adapt what he teaches to the needs of students.

While working hard, Mr. Yang is also constantly active in upgrading his skills.
