Written by Guo Qingchun and He Dandan, Research on the Quality of Open Education at Different Teaching Venues: Analysis of the Establishment and Management of Teaching Venues in Open Education was published at the end of 2012.

Both the quality of open education at RTVUs and the quality of online learning at conventional universities have attracted a lot of attention from universities, educational administrative departments, online learners and society as a whole. The RTVUs have been attempting to create a system that will guarantee the quality of open education and have implemented an array of measures to help build better teaching venues. Teaching venues are of vital importance to open and distance learning, confirming the value of this new publication.

The book’s authors are devoted to open and distance learning. They have witnessed the development of the RTVUs over the past 30 years and made outstanding contributions to the development of teaching venues in open education. The book brings together their experiences, analyzing the practices, limitations and prospects of teaching venues in open education. The book is divided into six chapters: 1. The Emergence of Teaching Venues in Open Education (1999-2002); 2. The Management Foundation of Teaching Venues in Open Education (2003-2005); 3. Improving the Management System of Teaching Venues in Open Education (2005-2010); 4. Improving the Management Technologies of Teaching Venues in Open Education (2006-2010); 5. The Current State of Teaching Venues’ Process Management (2010-2011); 6. An Analysis of the Current State of Teaching Venues in Open Education (2010-2012).

The authors hope that the book will serve as a history of teaching venues in open education and a reliable reference material for their colleagues in this field, and hence become a window through which people can better understand RTVUs for the benefit of open and distance learning.

Prof. Li Linshu, vice president of the OUC, wrote the preface for the book. He commented: “Without a doubt, a book like this will benefit the construction of the OUC.”
