On 26 December, the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting to deploy the final exam work for the 2025 autumn semester. OUC Vice President LI Song attended the event, which was chaired by GU Xiaohua, Director of the Academic Affairs Department.

LI Song highlighted that exams are crucial for evaluating teaching outcomes and implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. It is also an essential practice for advancing the education power strategy in open education. To meet the demands of high-quality development in open education, it is imperative to accelerate the construction of a modern examination system aligned with the strategic positioning of OUC. He raised four requirements: strengthening standardised management to ensure exam security and fairness; deepening exam reforms to establish a competency-based assessment system; advancing digital-intelligent transformation to create a smart exam model; and enhancing services for teachers and students to reflect the humanistic aspect of exams.

CHENG Qian, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Department, reported the overall situation of the final exam work and clarified the following work plan. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with participants from the Academic Affairs Department on site and leaders from 65 branches joining virtually. Discussions centred on exam management, reform, supervision, and quality enhancement, providing a solid foundation for the smooth conduct of the final exams and reinforcing the consensus on comprehensive educational reform within the OUC system.
