To thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on school aesthetic education and to execute the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education's "Notice on Comprehensively Implementing the School Aesthetic Education Immersion Action," the Open University of China (OUC) has vigorously promoted aesthetic education immersion within the university.

This initiative is integratead with the high-quality development of ideological and political education into courses, leading to a series of educational research and academic training activities.

Recently, the OUC invited Qian Rong, a professor and musicologist from the Central Conservatory of Music, to present a special lecture titled 'My Understanding of Intangible Musical Heritage.' This lecture is part of the OUC's special training series on ideological and political education, designed to promote national culture, increase understanding of intangible cultural heritage in music, and appreciate the unique charm of traditional music.

Participants not only fully immersed themselves in the allure of traditional music but also acquired professional knowledge and an appreciation for the aesthetic value of intangible musical heritage. This enhanced their comprehension, respect, and protective awareness towards it. Furthermore, the shared experience of music strengthened their cultural identity and national pride.

The lecture drew active participation from university teachers, students from the Experimental College, and students from the directly affiliated colleges of the Senior University of China (SUC). It was also streamed live on the Lifelong Education Platform and SUC’s WeChat channel. The event was presided over by Zhang Feng, deputy dean of the OUC’s School of Art.
