The Open University of China (OUC) has conducted a focused seminar on the 2024 teaching activities for agricultural and medical majors in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.
This initiative aims to foster the development of these disciplines and to execute the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Comprehensive Reform of Open University Education and Teaching through Digital-Intelligence Empowerment and Integrated Collaboration." Over 100 teachers from the main campus and 40 regional branches (colleges) were in attendance. The seminar featured specialised lectures, group discussions, and field studies.
Wang Zhongfeng, vice president of Shaanxi Open University, warmly welcomed the participating teachers and provided an overview of the university's historical development, educational achievements, and the current state of its agricultural and medical programmes.
Li Guangde, dean of the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College) at the OUC, shared the university's 2024 teaching strategy and the spirit of the plenary session of the University Affairs Committee. He also outlined the current educational activities and future plans for the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College).
Lin Xiuqin, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Department at the OUC, offered an in-depth interpretation of the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Comprehensive Reform of Open University Education and Teaching through Digital-Intelligence Empowerment and Integrated Collaboration." She discussed the document's drafting process, underlying philosophy, and strategic actions.
The attendees engaged in thorough discussions on various topics, including the application of digital-intelligence technologies in the educational and teaching reforms of agricultural and medical majors, the development of digital learning resources, examination reforms, the establishment of teaching teams, and the enhancement of teaching and research capabilities. During the event, teachers from agricultural and medical majors visited the Yangling Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park for a field study.
Participants unanimously noted that the event featured a clear theme, diverse formats, and rich content, offering guidance and insights for the execution of the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Comprehensive Reform of Open University Education and Teaching through Digital-Intelligence Empowerment and Integrated Collaboration" in agricultural and medical majors. It also fostered high-quality development in the education and teaching of related disciplines and strengthened the exchange and cooperation in education and teaching among various branches (colleges).
