To further advance the opening-up of education and effectively coordinate the dual initiatives of "introducing overseas educational resources and going global", thereby better serving the establishment of overseas learning centres, the College of International Education of the Open University of China (OUC) hosted an online specialised training programme from 6th to 8th December 2024.

The training aims to enhance the internationalisation capabilities of its system's cadres and teachers. The training was organised by the China International Education Institute, with participation from 143 cadres and teachers across the OUC headquarters and its 42 branches.

The training focused on three main themes: international perspective, overseas education, and international student education in China. It featured special reports, case sharing, and interactive Q&A sessions by renowned domestic experts, scholars, and experienced school administrators. Specifically, the special reports were structured into six lectures, addressing topics such as major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, the development of higher education in Africa and the opportunities, challenges, and missions of Sino-African educational cooperation, risks and effective prevention and control in overseas education, management norms for overseas education and new models of talent cultivation, exploration and practice in recruiting international students to China, and cross-cultural communication and assimilative management.

The participating trainees expressed that the programme was distinctive in theme and comprehensive in content. It not only provided them with an in-depth understanding of the latest developments and trends in educational internationalisation but also further broadened their international perspectives and enhanced their internationalisation capabilities. This laid a solid foundation for their future participation in the development of overseas learning centres and engagement in international exchange and cooperation initiatives.
