Recently, to implement the "OUC’s Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of Ideological and Political Education into Courses" and solidly advance the construction of demonstration projects in this field, the Academic Affairs Department of the Open University of China (OUC) held a mid-term review and exchange seminar for national-level demonstration projects of ideological and political education into courses.
Project leaders from courses such as "Social Security (Undergraduate)", "Software Engineering", "Sales Strategies and Arts", "Community Nursing", "Principles of Politics", and "Prevention and Treatment of Common Diseases in Animals" sequentially presented reports on their project tasks, progress, interim outcomes, and future work plans. After carefully listening to the reports, the review experts affirmed the extensive teaching explorations and practical effects achieved by each project team, noting that preliminary results had been achieved in collective lesson preparation, online-offline integrated teaching, and course resource development. Meanwhile, the experts provided suggestions for improving the issues encountered during the project development and emphasised the importance of unearthing the ideological and political elements and resources within the courses, innovating instructional design methods, and achieving organic integration. The experts expressed hope that each project would deepen research, enhance focus, leverage digital technology to strengthen the construction of teaching resources for course-based ideological and political education, further refine achievements, and create demonstration projects with the distinctive characteristics of the OUC. The expert group also offered optimisation suggestions for the construction plans of each project in the next stage.
This event comprehensively examined and evaluated the progress and effectiveness of the course-based ideological and political education demonstration projects, which aided the projects in promptly identifying issues in a timely manner, further clarifying their thinking, and optimising their subsequent development plans. The project leaders indicated that they would follow the experts' requirements, strengthen research on the ideological and political connotations of their courses based on their characteristics, further focus on the implementing teaching effectiveness, and solidly promote the construction of the next phase of course demonstration projects.
Professor Liu Jincheng from China University of Mining and Technology, Professor Yu Jingjun from Beihang University, Associate Researcher Zhao Lihong from Minzu University of China, along with heads and teachers of relevant schools, heads of the Academic Affairs Department, and relevant personnel from the OUC, attended the event on-site. Members of each project team participated in the event via online live broadcasts.
