China's first "eLearning Media Asset Engineer" training programme has been jointly launched by the OUC School of Continuing Education(Training Centre) and Beijing Normal University R&D Center for Digital Learning and Public Education Service Engineering authorized by the Ministry of Education. It is the first certification programme based on the eLearning capacity model.

The first phase of the "eLearning Media Asset Engineer" training programme will be for instructor training and will be held at the OUC Weigongcun Campus. Attendees will learn new concepts and technologies in media asset design and development. Training methods

include theoretical study, software application, online examination, case production and case evaluation. This comprehensive programme will improve technical innovation, media asset development, teaching design and project management skills. Those who are qualified after training will obtain the "Adobe eLearning Media Asset Engineer" certification and are likely to become instructors for the programme. The Adobe eLearning technical certification programme, offered by Adobe in collaboration with Beijing Normal University, is designed for professionals in the education and training industries. Built on top of an Adobe software application assessment system, the programme trains technical professionals in eLearning teaching organization, instructional design, digital resource production and business architecture. It is the first in China to concretize the eLearning capacity model into an eLearning certification system. Encapsulating the latest research and experience in the industry, Beijing Normal University R&D Center for Digital Learning and Public Education Service Engineering spent nearly two years developing and refining the programme. Key design principles of the programme include emphasis on user experience, comprehensive skill development, workflow, and task orientation. The two main categories of certification are eLearning Technical Application Certification and eLearning Technical Certification, and the four sub-certifications are: eLearning Digital Resource Expert, eLearning Instructional Designer, eLearning Media Asset Engineer and eLearning System Architect.

The eLearning Media Asset Engineer certification is the first to be offered, and is designed for professionals in the fields of eLearning resource construction and teaching design. The OUC School of Continuing Education and Beijing Normal University R&D Center for Digital Learning and Public Education Service Engineering expect to roll out the "eLearning Technical Innovation" series soon, including the Digital Resource Expert, Instructional Designer and System Architect certifications.
