Recently, the Lifelong Education Research Institute of the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a research proposal presentation for two key research topics in adult continuing education under the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the China Adult Education Association (CAEA).

The presentation comprised of two topics titled on  "An Exploratory Study on Digital Transformation of Continuing Education in Higher Education Institutions: An Analysis and Evaluation of Key Indicators" and "Research on the Construction of Lifelong Learning Portfolios in the Perspective of Credit Bank", and was held at the OUC. The presentation was presided over by Vice Chairperson Zhao Yuejin of the CAEA, who attended the meeting to provide guidance on the two topics.

Professor Mo Shukun from Inner Mongolia Open University and former OUC researchers Yang Tingting and Li Guobin were also invited to provide guidance on the topics. The meeting was chaired by Du Ruo, vice dean of the Lifelong Education Research Institute, and was attended by researchers and members of the research team from the Lifelong Education Research Institute at the OUC.

During the meeting, Du Ruo expressed gratitude to the CAEA for providing an excellent academic platform for the researchers of the Open University. Dr. Chen Yuwei and associate researcher Yin Shuangxu presented the research proposal presentation for the two topics respectively. They offered detailed explanations of the research background and current status of each topic, as well as its research objectives and significance, key content, research challenges, and innovative points.

The experts in attendance fully affirmed the research value and innovation of both topics and provided targeted suggestions on research content, pathways, and strategies. For the topic "An Exploratory Study on Digital Transformation of Continuing Education in Higher Education Institutions: An Analysis and Evaluation of Key Indicators" , the experts suggested further clarification of indices and indicators, defining standards, and making the construction dimensions of the research model more explicit to provide references for future industry policy formulation and enhance research influence. As for the topic "Research on the Construction of Lifelong Learning Portfolios in the Perspective of Credit Bank," the experts recommended paying attention to the difficult point of establishing systematic technicality while ensuring the digitalisation, intelligence, standardisation, personalization, and security of portfolio management.
