The Guide to the Core Journals of China has been regularly updated and published every three years since 2008. The latest edition, which was hosted by the Peking University Library, initiated its study in October 2021. It involved the active participation of 148 experts and staff members from 32 different units, as well as a total of 9,473 subject specialists from all across the country, tasked with evaluating the list of core journals. Through a combination of quantitative screening and qualitative assessment by these experts, a grand total of 1987 core journals were carefully selected from Chinese journals published within China. This evaluation system plays a pivotal role in fostering the high-quality development of academic journals in China.
Established in 1981, the Chinese Journal of Distance Education is a prestigious academic journal under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the OUC. It holds several important recognitions, including being a source journal in the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), a national Chinese core journal, a core journal in the AMI Comprehensive Evaluation of Chinese Humanities and Social Science Journals (A Journal), a core journal in the Research Centre for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE), a double-effect journal in the China Journal Square Matrix, and a source journal with a high rate of republication for China Social Science Excellence.
