From 24 to 26 October 2023, the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a seminar for the online teaching team of its engineering programmes in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province.

The event saw the attendance of 100 individuals comprising the online teaching team from the OUC’s nationwide branches. The seminar was organised by the OUC’s Faculty of Science and Engineering.

On behalf of the Faculty, Chen Li, head of the Faculty’s School of Civil Engineering, presented a report entitled “Promote the Implementation of Teaching Process through Team Building”. The report focuses closely on the six main tasks for the teaching team, which include “implementing the core mission of moral education”, “strengthening programme and discipline development”, “intensifying educational and pedagogical reform”, “embracing the application of modern information technology”, “expanding high-quality course resources”, and “enhancing teaching support services”. These tasks help the teaching team to clearly define their roles and primary responsibilities.

Associate Professor Wang Xin from the Faculty's School of Computer Science and Technology shared her successful experiences in supporting the development of ideological and political courses. She set an example with Software Engineering, a national-level exemplary course that she leads. Additionally, some teacher representatives from various branches highlighted their experiences and achievements in collaborative teaching within the courses they are dedicated to.

The seminar presents an excellent opportunity for team members to engage in thorough exchanges, bolster friendships, and forge a consensus. The outstanding experiences and insightful opinions and suggestions shared during this event will significantly advance the development of our teaching team. Our aim is to foster a comprehensive improvement in the quality of education and teaching.
