To comprehensively study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and fulfill the OUC's Key Tasks for 2023, the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College) conducted the Annual Seminar of the Central Teaching and Research Group on Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, and Rural Region Development Undergraduate Majors from 4th to 6th May 2023.

The seminar took place in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province. Its primary objectives were to promote quality enhancement in education and teaching, strengthen the construction of a digital university, facilitate the integration of vocational and higher education, industry and education, as well as science and education. Additionally, the seminar aimed to foster the high-quality development of disciplines and majors. This event played a significant role in advancing the thematic education campaign on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The seminar saw the participation of 48 members from the Central Teaching and Research Group, along with prominent teachers from both the OUC headquarters and its 14 branches. Notable attendees included Ye Weiyong, the secretary of the Party Committee and president of Lishui Open University, Wu Lezhen, deputy secretary of the Party General Branch of the Teaching Centre at Zhejiang Open University, Li Guangde, dean of the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College), and vice dean Zhao Tingting. The seminar encompassed two main sessions: group discussions and on-site teaching and research.

During his speech, Ye Weiyong emphasized that achieving the modernization of agriculture and rural areas is a crucial task in the development of a modern socialist nation. He highlighted the significance given by the CPC Party Central Committee, under the leadership of Comrade Xi Jinping, to issues concerning "agriculture, countryside, and farmers." Therefore, he stressed the practical importance of conducting this seminar within the context of deeply studying and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress. Li Guangde, on the other hand, elaborated on the six key focuses of the OUC's work in 2023, along with the specific measures implemented by the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College). He expressed his hopes that through the group discussions and on-site teaching and research, participants would gain new insights, strengthen their Party spirit, prioritize practical application, and achieve significant accomplishments.

 

The heads of three undergraduate majors, along with the leaders of the Central Teaching and Research Group, delivered presentations on the construction and development of their respective subjects. The participants engaged in insightful discussions, exchanging views on the key tasks of the OUC's work and the theme of the activity.

During the on-site teaching and research session, five exceptional students from the Rural Areas Development major delivered presentations. Their dedication to their rural roots and their ability to apply their studies in practical ways served as an inspiration to the participants, evoking a sense of admiration and motivation.

The participants expressed that the seminar showcased diverse forms, comprehensive content, and vivid examples, offering valuable references and inspiration to advance the high-quality development of agriculture and forestry-related majors and enhance the quality of talent training.
