Recently, the third Academic Committee Director's Work Meeting of the Open University of China (OUC) was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. The meeting focused on enhancing academic capacity building and serving the high-quality development of the open university. Li Song, vice president and director of the Academic Committee of the OUC, attended the meeting.
Sixteen chairpersons from across the country conducted discussions on topics such as academic capacity building, discipline and professional development, teacher research capacity enhancement, and digital university construction at the Open University of China's third Academic Committee Director's Work Meeting. They proposed that academic capacity building is an important competitiveness for the high-quality development of the Open University of China (OUC), and that teacher research capacity is the fundamental support for academic capacity building. OUC is a pioneer in digital universities and should leverage its resource advantages and system strength to lead and plan academics, organise research, form academic communities, create a good academic atmosphere, and promote the construction of a digital university through high-level academics.
The meeting discussed the 2023 key work plan for the seven subject sub-committees. In 2023, the sub-committees will focus on subject development, and are committed to improving the academic capacity of subject teachers, as well as playing a role in subject status research, project results incubation, young teacher capacity enhancement, and academic resource construction.
Li Song concluded that the chairpersons actively played a leading role by exchanging and sharing their feelings, offering suggestions and ideas. He hoped that the chairpersons would further strengthen unity and cooperation, fulfill their duties, promote and assist each other, and use academic capacity building as a starting point to further serve the construction of a digital university, improve academic research to support talent cultivation and policy-making, and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the open universities.
