On 20 December 2022, the Open University of China (OUC) held an exhibition and exchange to enhance teaching reforms, delivered via both livestreamed and recorded video, and showcasing 22 practical outcomes from 17 branches and schools within the OUC system.

22 teachers showcased innovative and needs-based practices in reforms of majors, programmes, and teaching, with a focus on the regulations governing online education. In teaching, efforts have been made to promote curriculum-based ideological and political education, integrate face-to-face and online teaching, implement project-based teaching, build a learning community, promote innovation in majors and educational use of competitions, open simulated classes, guide graduation-thesis writing, and other initiatives. In terms of teacher resources, equal emphasis has been given to recruitment and training, with entrepreneurship teachers hired, studios set up for teachers, and a pilot dual class-counselor system introduced along with new models of online-teaching teams. For learner development, cooperation between schools and enterprises has been promoted.

The livestream was watched by about 6,600 teachers from teaching units at various levels, with positive feedback received from grassroots units such as branch schools and study centres, which anticipate similar activities to advance professional development and teaching reforms.

The event was organised by the OUC Academic Affairs Department. Its director, Gu Xiaohua, said that comprehensive reforms at the OUC are based on its operating system with quality enhancements as the underlying foundations. Further high-quality development should depend on those reforms advanced firmly through united efforts by the university system. The event was presided over by Jin Yan, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Department.
