On 28 September 2022, the School of Public Administration of the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Open University of China (OUC) held an academic workshop with the theme “The logicality and reality of the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind: The Chinese action plan.”

Professor Liu Zhenxia, dean of College of Marxism from Taiyuan University of Technology, was invited to be the keynote speaker. Yuan Songhe, vice dean of the faculty, presided over the event, with teachers from the faculty and the Academic Affairs Department and the OUC branches attending the workshop onsite or via video link.

Professor Liu Zhenxia gave an in-depth analysis of the concept of “a community with a shared future for mankind” from three aspects. She also elaborated on the proposal of this concept and how it has evolved and developed, and the logicality and reality for the CPC to construct the concept and its practice, including the methodology of grasping the world major historic trends, China’s sense of responsibility as a major country, and the promotion of the innovation of global governance philosophies.

Following Professor Liu Zhenxia’s speech, teachers from the OUC headquarters and branches held a discussion on this topic. They all commented that the event had profound theoretical and practical significance and that the workshop will be conducive for them to further study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, understand the major strategic deployment of the CPC Central Committee from a global perspective, and set the stage with concrete action for the 20th National Congress of the CPC.
