During the celebration of the 30th annual Teachers’ Day, the Ministry of Education, in harmony with “Decision on Honoring Excellent Teachers and Excellent Educators in the Nation” (Department of Personnel, MOE, No. 3 [2014]), announced 1,798 "excellent" teachers and 200 "excellent" educators who had been selected to receive this national honor for 2014.
Zheng Xinjian from Hebei RTVU, Huang Yongmei from Chemical Branch of Jiangsu RTVU, Zhang Jingshao from Sichuan RTVU, and Professor Leng Shujun from Jiangxi RTVU were awarded the title of National Excellent Teacher.
The document pointed out that in recent years numerous teachers and educators nationwide insisted on working under the guidance of Dengxiaoping Theory, the important principle of “Three Represents” and the scientific development concept, carefully studied and put into practice the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress, the second and third plenary sessions of the 18th Central Committee, implemented the spirit of the series of important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and thoroughly carried out the outline of education planning. A large number of excellent teachers and educators have thus emerged. It is hoped that the rewarded comrades will live up to their awards and continue to work hard to achieve new results in the reform and development of education; that the vast teaching and administrative staff on the educational front will view the national excellent teachers and educators as their models, bear their missions in mind, cherish their posts, and work wholeheartedly so as to make new and greater contributions in fully deepening the comprehensive reform in the education field and promoting education that will satisfy the masses.
Zheng Xinjian, from the time he began working in July, 1988, has devoted himself to the scientific research and teaching of the law, working on the front lines of education. The online curriculum “Lectures on General Legal Knowledge and Intellectual Property Rights around Computers”, which was led by him, was rated as one of the OUC’s excellent courses. In December of 2009 he was invited to join the fourth session of the academic annual meeting on social science in Hebei Province. There he gave a speech on “Research on Solutions of Integrative Utilization of Intellectual Property Rights Resources”. His individual monograph, “Legal Protection of Goodwill Rights”, published in 2010, won the third prize among scientific research results of national RTVUs that same year. As a law worker on the education front line, Professor Zheng Xinjian has paid attention to and studied important legal problems in the educational development of Hebei Province, and positively participated in the legislation of “Regulations on the Promotion of Lifelong Education in Hebei Province”. At the same time, as the main researcher, he finished the soft science research planning project in Hebei province entitled “Research on Legislative Innovation of Lifelong Education in Our Province”. In 2011 he was elected as a member of the guiding committee on law education under the guiding committee of teaching in colleges and universities in Hebei province, and one of the third-level candidates of the new century’s “Three-Three-Three Talents Project” in Hebei province. He was elected as the member of the CPPCC at the Shijiazhuang City level.
Leng Shujun, female, Han Nationality, 49 years old, Member of China Association for Promoting Democracy and Professor of Jiangxi RTVU. Having been teaching for 28 years, she has been working on the teaching front line. She has exquisite teaching abilities and dares to continue to strive for improvement. She is also innovative and creative and has achieved outstanding results. Many students whom she has cultivated have won prizes in national and provincial contests; the teaching materials she researched and compiled won first prizes for provincial excellent teaching materials; and she has hosted the construction of state-level and province-level practice and training centers for computers as well as the construction of featured specialty and creative experimental zones, and so on. She has won many honored titles including the young and middle-aged backbone teacher of colleges and universities in Jiangxi province, the young and middle-aged academic leader of colleges and universities in Jiangxi province, the national outstanding female worker representative, and winner of the teaching innovation award of CCRTVU.
Zhang Jingshao, who entered Sichuan RTVU as a teacher in May of 1985, is one of the few old RTVU employees at the university. Over the last 29 years, he has been working on the teaching front line, contributing to the development of RTVU’s education cause. He was recognized as an excellent CPC Party member by the Educational Working Committee under the provincial CPC Party Committee in 2005 and by the Working Committee of Provincial Organs in 2008. The department he works in has been rated as an outstanding collective by the university several times. The Party branch of the teaching department which he led was named as an advanced grassroots Party organization in provincial colleges and universities by the Educational Working Committee of the provincial Party committee in 2013. In 2013, he was named as an “Outstanding Teacher of Sichuan Province”.
