From June 8th to 21st of 2014, No. 1403 advanced class for backbone teachers in business administration programme of the OUC was held in Beijing. This class lasted for two weeks, with a total of 66 backbone teachers from all provincial and municipal RTVUs in the country taking part in it. Party Secretary of the OUC Li Ling attended the commencement and issued course completion certificates for those teachers who finished the training.

Vice President of the OUC Yan Bing gave a special report on “Pilot Construction of the OUC and Transition of Teachers and Their Work” during the opening ceremony. Yan Bing looked back to the three transitions of the OUC, deeply analyzed the nature, motivation, key goals, and three core points of this transition. He pointed out that this transition of teachers and their work was a process of recognition, re-exploration, and re-promotion. 

During the first week of the class, lectures in distance education and educational technology, including educational theory, mobile learning, and resource construction were arranged for the teachers. During the second week, scholars and professors from Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China, China Agricultural University, Beihang University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Beijing Technology and Business University were invited to give wonderful lectures on special topics such as strategic enterprise management, internationalized operation of Chinese enterprises, entrepreneurial management, current situation and trend of logistics development, leadership, and the Internet finance. Relating to the important work of constructing online core curriculum of the OUC, there was also a special discussion on the development of online core curriculum.

The teachers attending the class expressed that it not only promoted everyone’s recognition in distance education and educational technology and enhanced the ability of distance education and teaching, but also expanded their horizons in the professional discipline and improved the professional literacy and the ability of professional teaching and research. Moreover it provided a chance for teachers around the country to study and communicate and increase mutual understanding, deepened friendships among them, and improved the cohesion of the school system of the OUC.
