On  26th December 2023, the opening ceremony for a branch school of the Seniors University of China (SUC) took place at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU).

The event was graced by the presence of Wang Qiming, Party Committee secretary and president of SUC, Yu Hong, the Party Committee secretary and director of the Bureau for Retired Personnel at the Ministry of Education, Fan Ruixian, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of SUC, and Ni Haidong, Party Committee secretary of BLCU. This momentous occasion was expertly hosted by Wei Hui, deputy secretary of the Party Committee at BLCU.

Wang Qiming offered his congratulations on the establishment of the BLCU branch school of SUC. He emphasised that BLCU, being a higher education institution directly under the administration of the MOE, taking the initiative to establish a branch school of SUC, is a specific practice to implement the requirements set forth by the Party Leadership Group and Minister Huai Jinpeng for the construction of SUC. He also outlined three hopes: first, to collaboratively develop high-quality courses to enhance the availability of senior education materials; second, to jointly utilize public-service platforms and explore a new approach to building a university tailored for seniors; and third, to engage in open and coordinated discussions to devise a novel strategy for the high-quality development of senior education.

Yu Hong expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the BLCU branch school at SUC. According to her, the inception of the BLCU branch school is a significant response to the prevailing conditions and the right moment. Being a university directly under the MOE, BLCU has taken the proactive step of establishing a branch school at SUC, demonstrating the determination of BLCU's Party Committee to heed the nation's call and emphasise the importance of retired personnel.

Ni Haidong fully recognised the significance of the BLCU branch school of SUC and provided specific directives for the following tasks, such as maintaining our political stance, promoting resource sharing, prioritizing service to seniors, and strengthening the construction of informatisation.
