In order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Open University of China (OUC), meet the needs of the new era, explore new ideas and formats to promote enrolment, and guide and strengthen positive and targeted enrolment publicity, the OUC organised the Enrolment Creative Micro Video selection campaign starting in May 2019.
The campaign has won the attention and support of the OUC branches and colleges. Within a month, 33 branches, two specialised schools, and three industry and corporate colleges had participated in the activity and a total of 105 micro videos have been selected for evaluation.
A website was launched to display and enable voting on the participating works, which were also displayed on the 40th anniversary home page on the official website of the OUC and the home page of the OUC’s Learning Network. The official WeChat account of the OUC Learning Network also launched a mobile voting channel. As of midnight on 19 June, nearly 700,000 visitors have browsed and voted via these terminals.
On 18 June, an Enrolment Creative Micro Video Expert Review Meeting was successfully held at the Wukesong Campus. The evaluation expert group was made up of leaders in charge of enrolment from the OUC branches, as well as leaders and teacher representatives from the Academic Affairs Department, the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development, the Learning Resources Department, and the Department of News and Public Information and academic faculties, with Lin Yu, vice president of the OUC, as group leader.
Based on the evaluation criteria, the expert group discussed the works and the setting of the awards. Finally, after voting, three first prize, eight second prize, and 15 third prize works were selected. The evaluation criteria for outstanding awards and best organisation awards, as well as the voting calculation for the most popular awards, were also discussed and determined.
Some of the outstanding works were displayed at the OUC's 40th anniversary commemoration conferenceon 21 June. Yang Zhijian, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, presented awards to representatives from the Hebei, Shanxi, Jilin, Zhejiang, Henan, Guangdong, Guangzhou and Guizhou branches, which won awards for Best Organisation. Ju Chuanjin, vice president of the OUC, awarded prizes to the first place winners from the Shanghai, Wuhan, and Sichuan branches, as well as the second place winners. Vice president Yang Xiaotang awarded medals to the third prize winners.
