The selection of the “2018 Open University of China (OUC) Outstanding Graduates” has been completed and 482 students have been honoured with the title.

Since the Notice on Launching the Selection of Outstanding 2018 Graduates was published, OUC branches and their corresponding schools have actively organised the selection and recommendation of graduates. Following the expert review and publicity processes, it was decided by the OUC headquarters that Deng Tianyi and 481 other students were awarded the honorary title of “2018 OUC Outstanding Graduate”.

The outstanding students selected for the year of 2018 are studious, innovative, talented, and have made remarkable contributions to the community. They come from all walks of life and represent a variety of professions, including grassroots workers, farmers, teachers, police officers, and medical workers, as well as leaders and cadres from enterprises and public institutions, and disabled students. No matter what their occupation or position is, they all contribute to society and deserve public affirmation. Many of the graduates had already received honorary titles such as “National May 1st Labour Medal,” “National March 8 Red-Flag Pace-Setter” (an honorary title for exemplary women), “National Most Beautiful Person,” “Civilised Employee” (provincial level), and “Youth Post Expert” (provincial level).

The OUC outstanding graduates represent the OUC’s success in developing high quality learners and demonstrate the OUC educational concept of developing diverse learners. It is expected that all OUC branches and their schools should strengthen the promotion of outstanding graduates, proactively meet the ongoing changes to the needs and status of learners, pay more attention to the all-round development of learners, continue to intensify education and teaching reform, and improve the standard of learner support in order to develop more high quality professionals for society.
