How can ideology and politics be taught to 3.87 million RTVU students? The trend is for teachers to conduct live-video classes in which students can participate via their mobile phones. The OUC learning app allows them to both watch video and do exercises based on them.

Recently, a seminar on the teaching of ideology and politics was convened in Wuhan, and representatives of Radio and TV Universities nationwide exchanged their experiences. “Our students are special in that they vary considerably in age, usually have jobs, and have difficulty meeting. To enable them to learn anytime, anywhere, we need to find a new way of reaching them,” said Yang Zhijian, OUC president, and secretary of the Party Committee. Wuhan Radio and TV University (Wuhan RTVU) this year began live-video classes in ideology and politics, with instructors conveying their thinking in simple language and linking it with the real world. Students in the same city can attend the same classes, which has turned out to be very effective.

The OUC has paid considerable attention to the construction of these classes, and has invited famous professors, scholars, and technical teams. After one year of preparation, in September 2018, five short classes were made available on the app to allow for systematic learning.
