In order to strengthen the Law sub-committee and promote the development of the OUC Law programme, on the 5th and 6th of June, 2018, the second session of the Law sub-committee of the OUC academic committee convened in Beijing. Yang Xiaotang, deputy secretary of the OUC, Liu Jingduo, director of the School of Arts and Law, and Gu Xiaohua, deputy director of the Faculty of Arts and Law, along with law instructors participated in the conference. It was chaired by Yao Laiyan, director of the session.

Yang Xiaotang, OUC vice president, offered proposals on educating Law postgraduates, merging junior-college and undergraduate courses, and constructing micro-lecture resources. He expressed the hope that committee members would think more about and participate more in the development of the programme. Liu Jingduo, director of the Faculty of Arts and Law, said it would support academic research and the development of the Law sub-committee through planning and coordination. Gu Xiaohua said that the sub-committee should closely follow the constitution of the OUC academic committee, clarify its responsibilities, focus on teaching and scientific research, explore the construction of a research center, and promote the work of Law graduate students. Yao Laiyan gave a report on recent developments in the construction of the programme, including teaching teams, debate-host training, production of micro-lectures on Cultivation of Ideological Morality and Fundamentals of Law, and so on.


Multiple topics were discussed, including the orientation of the academic board, the number of exams, internships and practical training, graduate-thesis guidance, updating of learning resources, the merging of junior-college and undergraduate courses, graduate education, and other topics. Everyone agreed that the committee should focus this year on clarifying its responsibilities, such as doing a survey of postgraduate education in the Law programme, enhancing communication between the headquarters and branch teachers, and enhancing teacher skills in relation to distance education at the OUC.
