Professor Gu Jingxiang graduated from Tsinghua University in 1982 and has been engaged in CCRTVU mathematics teaching since that time. From 2000 to 2004, he studied the programme of computer application at Beijing University of Technology part-time, and was awarded an master's degree in engineering. In 2002, he was employed as a leader for the development of the programme of mathematics. He had been honoured with the title of one of CCRTVU's "excellent" tutors from 2006 to 2009. In October 2008, he won CCRTVU’s Third Teaching Innovation Award.

Part-time positions:
He works as vice president of the Distance Education Committee of the Chinese Association of Quantitative Economics.
In 2007, he was employed as a part-time tutor for new editor training by Higher Education Press.

Research orientations:
Applied mathematics and distance education.
The courses he has led mainly fall into two categories: curricula on public mathematics, such as economic mathematics basics and discrete mathematics; curricula for mathematics programme, such as ordinary differential equations and mathematical modeling, about 10 courses in all.

Major achievements:
1. His Discrete Mathematics was chosen as one of 2008's "National Exquisite Courses (Online Education)".
2. The course Economic Mathematics Basics was chosen as one of 2008's "National Exquisite Courses (Online Education)", with him being one of the course leaders.
3. Economic Mathematics Basics, a national teaching material during the “Eleventh Five-Year” period for regular higher education, compiled by him, won second prize at the 2002 Excellent Teaching Material Evaluation of the National Regular Institutions of Higher Education organized by the Ministry of Education.
4. He participated in the compilation of Calculus, a national teaching material during the “Eleventh Five-Year” period for regular higher education, and chosen as one of 2007's "National Exquisite Teaching Materials" by the Ministry of Education. The teaching material is geared to the needs of all regular social institutions of higher education, published by China Renmin University Press Co. Ltd, July 2006.
5.Application of Education Technology in the Reform of Economic Mathematics Basics won second prize in the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievements of 2004, with him being one of the leaders of the project.
6. He was the chief editor of Applied Economics Mathematics, the result of the achievements of a national research topic during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period for educational science, and a national teaching material during the “Eleventh Five-Year” period for regular higher education. The teaching material is geared to the needs of all regular social undergraduate institutions of higher education, published by Higher Education Press.
7. He participated in the compilation of one of the new century online course construction projects for national scientific research ---- matched to printed teaching materials for Economic Mathematics Basics, published by Higher Education Press. It is a national teaching material for regular higher education during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period.
8. He participated in Digital Teaching Environment and Resource Construction Based on Web2.0, a CCRTVU key project during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, which was evaluated "Excellent" upon its completion in September 2012.
9. During 2008-2010, he led the sub-topic project Reform and Research of Teaching Materials of Applied Economics Mathematics in the Cultivation of Practical Financial Professionals (FIB070335-A2-20) subject to Research on Practical Talent Cultivation Model in China’s Institutions of Higher Education, a national project of educational science during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period.
10. He participated in the Empirical and Comparative Research on the Cost Effectiveness of RTVU System Distance Education (BCA050013), a national project of educational science during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, which was evaluated "Excellent" upon completion of the project in August 2008.
11. He participated in the sub-topic project Mathematics Teaching Content and Course System of Practical Talent Cultivation (BIA010091-1-C03) subject to a national project of educational science during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, Innovation and Practice of Practical Talent Training System in China’s Institutions of Higher Education in the 21st Century. The research was completed in August 2005, and he was the person in charge of the sub-topic project.
12. He is responsible for the CCRTVU project Research and Practice on the Reform of Mathematics Programme Curriculum System and Teaching Contents.
