Chen Kun holds a doctorate from CUPSL. While studying for this degree, she visited Duke University for one year on funding from the China Scholarship Council.  

She has participated in investigations and writing related to Political Construction and Development of China, a project in philosophy and the social sciences authorized by the Ministry of Education. Her publications include Pluralistic Rights and Changeable Freedom - A Study of Burke's View of Rights and To Seek Profit is Human – the Basis of Legal-system Design before the Qin Dynasty.
