Qiu Hong was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in July 1966. She is now professor of the Institute of Population, Resources and Environment of the Northeast Asia Research Institute of Jilin University.
She graduated from the demography programme of Jilin University in 1992, with a Masters in law.
She studied at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology from 2002 to 2004.
She obtained a doctorate degree in population, resources and environment economics from Jilin University (2011).
Since she came to the Northeast Asia Research Institute of Jilin University in 2001, she has been mainly engaged in teaching and scientific research work concerning demography and relative subjects. She has released more than 20 academic papers in domestic core journals, provided more than 10 consulting projects for related provincial government departments, and participated in more than 10 scientific research projects, of which seven were undertaken as project leader, and one was awarded first prize at the ministerial level.
