Fang Xin is a doctor of mechanical design and theory at Beijing University of Technology. She is the head of the national and Beijing city-level characteristic programmes (mechanical engineering and automation), head of the Beijing outstanding teaching team (teaching team for applied technology undergraduate comprehensive course construction), person in charge of outstanding courses in Beijing institutions of higher learning (comprehensive practice of mechanical engineering technology), and chief editor of “CNC Machine Tools and Programming” and “Mechanical CAD&CAM”. She is a model of Beijing economic and technological innovation, an advanced individual of the capital education pioneer technology innovation, and a famous teacher at Beijing Union University. In addition, she is deputy director-general and committee member of the manufacturing engineering branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and vice chairman and secretary general of the manufacturing engineering branch of Beijing Mechanical Engineering Society.

Fang is engaged in teaching and teaching reform in the field of mechanical engineering and automation, and carries out scientific research work in the field of CAD/CAM technology, specifically reverse engineering. She has completed five scientific research projects, including extraction methods for sub-pixel contour lines in photogrammetry at Beijing AMT key laboratory. She has carried out and accomplished 13 research projects on education reform at the national level and Beijing municipal level. She has received teaching achievement awards from universities in Beijing on three occasions, compiled six books, and obtained one  national invention patent (200610109242x), one US invention patent (11/880923), and one Israeli invention patent (184993). She has published a number of scientific research papers, including Data Research on the Parts Industry at the CT level.
