Mr. Wang graduated from the Department of Machinery manufacturing of Tsinghua University and received a postgraduate diploma in 1956. At present, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Precision Instrument and Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University School of Mechanical Engineering He receives a Special Governmental Allowance from the State Council.

He has been engaged in the teaching and research of advanced manufacturing technology, including Mechanical manufacturing technology, precision and ultra-precision machining, and automation and computer aided manufacturing.

Professor Wang is one of the earliest participants and main creators of the first numerically controlled machine tool (1957) and the first B1-64 CNC machining central automatic line (1959). In recent years, he has mainly been engaged in key and supporting projects in the “tenth five-year” and “eleventh five-year” phases, including Precision CNC Piston Lathes, and CNC System and Linear Motor and Their Control.

Since the 1990s, he has taken on a number of cutting-edge projects, such as key science and technology projects of national ministries and commissions, high-tech projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Most of the achievements have reached an advanced international level. He received a National Invention Prize and eight national and provincial Science and Technology Progress Prizes. He has five patents for invention as well as 17 monographs, including Manual of Machining Process Technology (2nd edition), Manual of Modern Manufacturing Technology, Practical Manual of Precision Machining Technology, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Technology of Mechanical Manufacturing (2nd edition), Precision and Ultra-precision Processing Technology, and The Fundamentals of Mechanical manufacturing engineering. He has published more than 280 academic papers, and he has more than 80 postgraduate students both in China and abroad.

Professor Wang Xiankui is knowledgeable and scholarly. Since 2011, when he became one of the lectures of the development of forward-looking experts rostrums hosted by the Mechanical Engineering Discipline of the OUC, his diligent and modest teaching style and simple lecturing method has gained unanimous praise from teachers and students. All in all, he has made great contributions to the development of the academic research capacity of the OUC’s engineering staff.
