Luo Yaozhi is a professor of Zhejiang University, doctoral supervisor, and editor of the Architectural Structures course within the Construction and Management programme. He was the winner of the Outstanding Young Investigator Award; vice president of Zhejiang University’s Architectural Engineering Institution; director of the Zhejiang Province Space Structure Key Laboratory; and standing deputy director of Zhejiang University Space Structure Research Centre. His main research areas include the research and practice of large-space special steel structures, cable-membrane structures and retractable structures; the development of large-scale structure wireless sensor technology; and the development and application of structural CAD/CAM. He undertook the national sci-tech support plan, the 863 plan and projects for the National Natural Scientific Foundation, and other 20 projects. He won the national and provincial award for scientific and technological advancement, the Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Award, and nine other awards. He was honoured by the Ministry of Education as a Provincial New Century Outstanding Talent, and was bestowed a special award for scientific and technological innovation by the Olympic Project. He possesses four monographs and more than 60 papers included in SCI and EI, as well as 18 authorized patents, software copyrights and national constructional methods.
