Nie Xiangtian is the chief editor of the written teaching materials for Construction Project Management. He is a doctor of Engineering and a professor. He is a supervising engineer for the Ministry of Water Resources, the chief supervising engineer trainer, and a distinguished professor of the China Hydraulic Engineering Association.

He has supervised and cultivated 26 postgraduates and has eight postgraduates who are currently in school. He has participated in and completed 16 scientific research projects, of which six were directly hosted by him. Projects he has been involved in won second prize for scientific and technological advancement in Shanxi Province, third prize for scientific and technological advancement from the State Education Commission, a special award for Guangdong Province scientific and technological advancement, and second prize for scientific and technological advancement from the Henan Province Office of Education. He has published 28 scientific papers and three monographs and won first prize from Henan Education System. He has helped compile standard for the water industry. Lastly, he has edited five national teaching materials and participated in the compilation of two national teaching materials.
