I. Training objectives

By adhering to the principle of fostering virtue through education, giving equal importance to ethical and legal education, and adapting to the needs of Chinese socialism and rule of law, the major aims to cultivate practice-oriented legal professionals in an all-round way in terms of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and work education. They should gain a systematic understanding of Chinese laws and regulations to a degree at least equivalent to that of a four-year law major at a full-time university, and be able to engage in legal work in state organs, enterprises, institutions and social organisations, especially in judicial and administrative organs, notarization and arbitration institutions, law firms, and other legal services.

II. Requirements

1. Duration of study: 8 years of part-time studies permitted, and the shortest period at least 5 years.

2. Degrees awarded: Bachelor of Law

3. Type of education: Open

4. Total credit hours: 2,520 hours and 140 credits.

Education

Students are expected to gain a basic understanding of the humanities and social and natural sciences, and master the basics of various disciplines of law.

Skills development

To equip students with the ability to learn independently, to integrate theory with practice, and to undertake research.

Overall quality

Students are expected to love the socialist motherland, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, understand socialism with Chinese characteristics, and gain a correct outlook on living and values.

Graduates should have mastered the thinking and research processes of Law, be scientific in their approaches, cultivate personal character and morality as the basis of their professional identity, and have a sense of responsibility in terms of helping construct a socialist country based on rule of law while maintaining a healthy mind and body.

III. Main courses

1. Specialised basic courses: Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Chinese Legal History, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Civil Procedural Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Administrative Law and Administrative Procedural Law, International Law, Ethics of the Legal Profession, and others.

2.Specialised core courses: Economic Law, Commercial Law, Private International Law, International Economic Law, Labour and Social-security Law, Intellectual-property Law, Legal Documents, Contract Law, and others.
