The programme aims to foster the all-round ethical, physical, and intellectual development of students. Graduates should be advanced, application-oriented professionals, equipped with basic theoretical and professional knowledge of this major and possess the competencies required by career opportunities related to front-line construction and management posts in the road and bridge engineering industry.

I. Training Objectives and Standards

Two-year junior college programme for part-time students to complete within three years. Minimum length of study should be no less than two and half years.

The programme aims to foster the all-round ethical, physical, and intellectual development of students. Graduates should be advanced, application-oriented professionals, equipped with basic theoretical and professional knowledge of this major and possess the competencies required by career opportunities related to front-line construction and management posts in the road and bridge engineering industry.

Graduates should support the path of the Communist Party of China, love the motherland, abide by discipline and law, love road transportation and their own work, work hard, seek truth from facts, dare to innovate, and try to become talented professionals with high ideals, moral integrity, a good education, and strong sense of discipline.

Students trained in this major should have theoretical and professional knowledge of construction technology and management, quality management, construction supervision, safety management, project costing, contract information management, and operation management, while also having strong technical application abilities and good comprehensive qualities. Graduates should acquire the following knowledge and abilities:

1. Basic cultural knowledge, such as humanities and social sciences;
2. Basic theoretical knowledge of mathematics, mechanics, and computing necessary for the major;
3. Basic knowledge of rocks, soil, geology, and building materials necessary for the major;
4. Basic theoretical and professional knowledge of roads, bridges, and structures;
5. Computer operation abilities and ability to complete professional work with the help of computers;
6. Ability to read and draw structural drawings of road and bridge works;
7. Ability to correctly use road and bridge engineering materials and make use of relevant instruments and equipment to carry out highway engineering tests;
8. Ability to check general road and bridge components;
9. Ability to conduct road and bridge surveys and construction layout and completion surveys;
10.Specific quality control and management abilities, including management of progress and safety in road and bridge construction;
11. Ability to organise and manage construction sites;
12. Ability to complete bidding and engineering cost documents;
13. Basic construction site supervision abilities.
 

II.Core Courses

Advanced Mathematics Foundations, Architectural Drawing Basics, Architectural Surveys, Architectural Mechanics, Architectural Materials, Subgrades and Foundation, Structural Design Principles, Road Engineering Technology, Bridge Engineering Technology, and Architectural Engineering Project Management.

III. Graduation

The minimum number of credits required to graduate from this major is 78. Graduates who obtain the required number of credits and meet the moral education requirements will be awarded with a nationally-recognised junior college graduation certificate of higher education.
