In order to further advance the experimental work of community education in the open university system, actively exploring the teaching model and ways of cooperating and sharing, and vigorously promoting the empirical study of community education in our country, on November 19-20, 2014, a work seminar of the Open University of China (OUC) Community Education Experiment Centre (Base) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

On November 5, 2014, the 2nd Phase Co-Construction Work Meeting of the Cloud Classroom of The Open University of China (OUC) was held in Beijing, which marks full launch of the 2nd phase construction of the Cloud Classroom. In 2013 the OUC constructed the first 63 Cloud Classrooms on the western frontiers and in the economic developing areas covering over 40 prefecture-level cities of Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Guangxi and Guizhou, which facilitated greatly the carrying out of distance teaching, and brought high quality educational resources into the reach of students.

From October 27 to November 6, 2014, the OUC’s No. 1406 Senior Workshop for Backbone Teachers was held in Beijing. The workshop lasted for two weeks and marked the first time that the “One College Student Per Village” plan carried out training for professional backbone teachers in the system of the Open University of China (OUC). A total of 48 teachers from 27 provincial schools and teaching locations within the “One College Student Per Village” plan took part in the course and completed their study.

On November 11th of 2013, a program called “OUC Open Forum” debuted on CETV1. The “Science and China — Academicians and Experts Lecture” Series was included in the show. The lecture series were jointly planned and launched by the OUC and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The broadcast time happened to coincide with the first anniversary of the signing of the cooperation agreement. The occasion  marked the win-win cooperation through which both sides’ advantages have been fully exerted fully and both have made substantial progress under their mutual efforts.

On April 25th, the first working meeting of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) was held through the president desktop system. The President of the OUC and the Director of the Quality Assurance Committee, Yang Zhijian, attended the meeting and addressed the participants. Members of the committee from the 44 branches and the university’s leaders attended the meeting.

On April 17, the 2014 TCSOL (short for “Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages”) Training of the Open University of China (the OUC) was officially launched in Wukesong distance teaching building. The first session of this training lasted six days, and was attended by almost 30 backbone teachers and teaching administrative staff from the Radio and TV Universities (RTVUs) of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Yunnan, Zhejiang, Chengdu, Gansu and other provinces, as well as other universities and colleges, many of whom had attended the 2013 OUC TCSOL Training.

In April 18, 2014, the discussion meeting of the Open University of China’s (OUC) “new industrial workers’ development and training assistance project” scheme was held in Xi’an. 50 people attended the meeting, including university leaders, directors of relevant departments, experts and professors from the OUC and several local Radio and TV Universities (RTVUs).

After three years of investigation and demonstrations, the Open University of China (the OUC) recently completed its examination and approved the professional project and development scheme for the junior college “Senior Services and Management” programme.
