Beijing, 18 March 2026 — The Seniors University of China (SUC) Development Promotion Meeting and the Establishment Ceremony of its School of Silver Economy were held in Beijing. XU Qingsen, Vice Minister of Education, attended the event and delivered an address.

The meeting noted that the Chinese government attaches great importance to education and aging-related work. President XI Jinping has made multiple important discourses and remarks, providing fundamental guidance for the development of elderly education. The Ministry of Education pays great attention to lifelong education and elderly education and SUC has made remarkable progress since its establishment three years ago. Standing at a new starting point, SUC must uphold its educational principle of "Morality, Learning, Health, Happiness, Fulfilment", focus on connotation development. Efforts will be concentrated on key areas, including standardised school operations, teaching system development, enhancement of curriculum resources, faculty development, digital and intelligent empowerment, academic research advancement, and demonstration base construction. SUC will continue to enrich its educational forms and content, actively promote co-construction and sharing of curriculum resources, strengthen both the full-time and part-time teacher teams, actively explore intelligent learning support services, and comprehensively improve school operation capabilities and standards. All these efforts will provide strong support for the development of a leading country in education and a learning-oriented society and nation.
At the meeting, SUC School of Silver Economy was officially inaugurated, and the "Wellness, Learning and Travel" section on the National Education Platform for the Elderly was launched.
