Zhang Tuohong is vice dean of the Department of Health Policy and Management of the School of Public Health of Peking University, and vice director of the National Institute of Hospital Administration.
Her professional orientation is social medicine.
She obtained a doctorate degree from the Department of Public Health of Jichi Medical University, and a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree from the School of Public Health of Beijing Medical University.
In 2003, she was a senior visiting fellow at the Department of Public Health of the University of Liverpool, and in 2001 she was a visiting scholar at the School of Tropical Diseases of the University of Liverpool.
Professional affiliations:
Expert for the Ministry of Health Expert Consultation Committee for Tuberculosis, member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Hospital Management Association, and director of the Social Medicine Branch of the China Preventive Medicine Association.
Research experience:
1. Evaluation research on the Implementation progress (2004-2006) of the “Outline for Primary Health Care in Rural Areas of China (2001-2010)”, person in charge.
2. Research on health services and medical planning in Chaoying District of Beijing (2005), person in charge.
3. Research on for-profit hospitals in China’s transitional economy (2003-2005), person in charge. The research was funded by the China Medical Board, and assisted by the China Centre for Economic Research and the Institute of Sociology and Anthropology of Peking University.
4. Research on taxes on for-profit hospitals in China (2003), major researchers. The research was funded by the Ministry of Health, led by the National Institute of Hospital Administration, and assisted by Peking University and the Development Research Centre of the State Council.
5. Social Evaluation Research on China’s tuberculosis control programme (2003-2004), major researchers. The research was funded by the World Bank/DFID. The pilot project was carried out in Inner Mongolia, and jointly completed by the School of Public Health of Peking University and Fudan University.
