On the morning of 9 November, 2018, the OUC held a press conference for the “Long March Belt Educational Poverty-Alleviation Project” at Sichuan Radio and TV University (RTVU). Topics included the results of the project in Sichuan, as well as the experience of Sichuan RTVU in poverty alleviation through education.
Vice secretary Liu Chen of the CPC OUC Committee, secretary Tan Wenjin of the CPC Sichuan RTVU Committee, vice-secretary and sectary Chen Biao of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC Sichuan RTVU Committee, and 10 journalists from 7 media outlets, including the Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, Farmers’ Daily, China Education Daily, China Network (china.org.cn, china.com.cn), China Education Television, and the Sci-Tech and Education Channel of Sichuan Television (www.sctv-8.com.cn), attended the press conference.
Tan Wenjin delivered a welcoming speech, Liu Chen introduced the implementation of the project, and Chen Biao introduced the poverty alleviation work of Sichuan RTVU. The journalists asked about teachers, fundraising, and other aspects of the project, and Liu Chen and Tan Wenjin answered their questions. The press conference lasted for two hours.
The journalists also had a look around the multimedia studio, the university’s history showroom, and other Sichuan RTVU facilities to learn about the educational characteristics of RTVUs.
Live Q & A sessions were conducted in Wenchuan County of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, and Cangxi County of Guangyuan Prefectural City, on 5-8 November, 2018.
