In order to enrich its “learning menu” and make it possible for people to study at home, Tianjin Radio and TV University (Tianjin RTVU) has been conducting in-depth surveys of people’s needs, constantly optimising the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network, and accumulating digital study resources.

To date, the Network has added 30 new courses and more than 1000 micro-videos covering topics in the humanities, arts, health-care, family and education, life and leisure, and numerous other areas, bringing to learning a high degree of convenience and speed. All the courses are well-designed and targeted to specific groups; for instance, there are courses teaching young mothers to care for their newborns, health-care courses for the elderly, education in a variety of areas for young people, agricultural-technology courses for new farmers, and so on. As a new type of learning channel in the Internet Plus era, the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network utilises modern information technology to diversify learning resources fragmented. Five series of courses, including calligraphy and English, are presented in packages that bring together teaching materials in a variety of media along with digital learning resources and platforms, making it easy for users to access resources by simply scanning a QR code.

“The Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network has built a digital environment that allows anyone to study anywhere and at any time through new media and by exploiting the technological advantages of Tianjin RTVU. The public can access quality online-education resources and participate in community-education activities by logging in with a lifelong-learning card. To date, the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network has nearly 4000 video lessons and over 22,620 active users,” says Li Peng, deputy director of the Tianjin Community Education Guidance Centre.
