Tang Yingshan graduated from the Mural Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is now a course leader of the courses of line drawing and color and a professor in the OUC’s animation programme. His research is focused on distance education of fine arts.

Research achievements
In 2010, the CAI courseware of Freehand Brushwork of Small Flowers and Birds won the first prize of the 2010 national RTVU multimedia teaching materials, and the first prize for teaching design of the 2010 national RTVU multimedia teaching materials.

In 2011, the CAI courseware of Traditional Chinese Painting Scenery won the excellent prize for the art group of higher education of the 11th National Multimedia Courseware Contest held by the Education Management Information Centre of the Ministry of Education. The courseware of the Beauty of Chinese Characters, won the third prize for primary school group of the 11th National Multimedia Courseware Contest Xue Zhi Wang Bei (Learning Net Cup) held by the Education Management Information Centre of the Ministry of Education. The courseware A Course of Liming Calligraphy won the first prize (the first place) and the best technology realization award for senior middle school group of the 11th National Multimedia Courseware Contest Xue Zhi Wang Bei (Learning Net Cup) held by the Education Management Information Centre of the Ministry of Education. His Design and Application of Multimedia Arts Courseware in Distance Teaching was published in China Educational Technology, Volume 6, 2011. His ‘Preliminary Study on Distance Arts Education’ was published in China University Teaching Volume 2, 2011, and Paul Gauguin in Early Times was published in World Art Volume 2, 2011.

In 2012, the PAD application version of ‘Freehand Brushwork of Small Flowers and Birds’ won the special prize for the higher education group of the Sixteenth Multimedia Educational Software Contest and his Sketch won the first prize for the higher education group of the Sixteenth Multimedia Educational Software Contest.
