The Chinese literature (degree programme) in open education was offered in 2001 successively in cooperation with Peking University and Wuhan University.

By the end of 2013, about 290,000 Chinese literature majors had graduated and about 100,000 active students were still in school.

Since the establishment of Chinese literature, cooperation has been carried out with a number of institutions of higher education.

Famous experts and scholars from institutions of higher education have been invited one after another to act as chief editors and lecturers, including Chu Binjie, Kuang Xing, Hong Zicheng, Qian Liqiong, Xie Mian, Zhang Bin, Wen Rumin, and Chen Wenxin from Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, the Capital Normal University and Shanghai Normal University.
