Bi Huaxing is dean of the Department of Resources Environment and Urban and Rural Planning and Management; director of the Soil and Water Conservation Ecological Restoration Committee of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation; and secretary general of the Forest Hydrology and River Basin Management Committee of the Chinese Society of Forestry.
He is mainly engaged in scientific research and teaching in the fields of forestry ecological engineering, watershed management, the application of forest hydrology, and remote sensing geographic information systems.
He is in charge of several projects for the “11th Five-Year Plan”, “12th Five-Year Plan” and National Natural Science Foundation. He has won many awards and honorary titles including the Eighth Youth Science and Technology Prize issued jointly by the Communist Party Central Committee Organization Department, the Ministry of Personnel and the China Association for Science and Technology; first prize in Science and Technology from the Soil and Water Conservation Society; the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Forestry; and the Science and Technology Progress Award of the State Education Commission.
