Lu Liangshu is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and an expert on the breeding and cultivation of wheat and the development of agriculture and science and technology.
Over the past decade, he has successively led four key national research projects including “The Development of Grains and Economic Crops in China” and “Research on Medium and Long term Food Development Strategies in China”, two of which have won second prize in the National Science and Technology Advance Award. By comprehensively applying the principles of modern agricultural science and the systematic science of “mega-agriculture”, he has put forward important viewpoints such as “ the ternary structure of planting”, “the adjustment, optimization and matching strategy of food structure” and “modern intensively sustainable agriculture”. He has provided many important proposals to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and played an important consulting role in high-level decision-making.
